    Billabong International school,Thane

    The school was started in 2006 with more than 400 students. It has grown systematically and set a strong foundation. The first batch of ICSE students cleared Class 10 in 2011 with 100% results.

    All students are required to participate in the annual concert and sports day. The school believes in activity-based education and encourages students to reinforce the concepts they have learnt through classroom activities. The school gives a hands-on experience to students.

    The word Billabong comes from the Wirradjirri word for Billabang; the spoken language of the Australian Aboriginal tribe. It means still water lagoon, fed mostly by spring water, which is sacred water. Sacred water comes from the earth, our mother; it is never touched by sunlight. That is why we are surrounded by sacred water in the womb; it is protected spiritually. Billabongs are also known to provide plenty, as there is always a complete mini eco-system at all billabongs. In true spirit, every Billabong High is a complete ecosystem catering to the intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of a child.

    Billabong traces Thane’s history…

    The exhibition “Thane- Kal Aaj aur Kal” organised by Billabong High International School, Thane on July 11th and 12th 2015 at its Srinagar Campus was a huge success with as many as 4000 people visiting it. The Exhibition, which was organised as a part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of the leading international school, showcased history of Thane, its present status and likely scenario in the future. According to Dr. Ranjini Krishnaswamy, Director- Principal of the school, “The aim was to educate not only the students, but also the public at large about the highly interesting history of Thane and its steady emergence as a happening city. Until a few years ago, Thane was spoken about in tandem with Mumbai. But, not anymore.

    Thane had acquired a distinct stand alone identity of its own and is being interestingly perceived as a place to live in and work. Apart from old industries, the city now boast of several IT parks. As a part of our history project, we wanted capture the new vibrancy of Thane of which all of us are proud.” The exhibition which included an audio visual show, was inaugurated by the mayor Mr. Sanjay More in the presence of, The School Trustee Mr. Sudhir Goenka, Mr. N. K. Thanawalla and several citizens. Mr. More lauded the school for footing together ” Such a highly informative and educative exhibition.” There were 60 panels covering different aspects of Thane apart from display of traditional agricultural implements, jewellery, sarees and local handicrafts. There were also food stalls selling Mamledar Misal Pav and Agri food.

It is affiliated with the New Delhi-based Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) as well as the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), UK. It offers students a choice between the ICSE exam at class X or the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). At the Plus Two level it offers the A level qualification.
