  • Billabong High International School,Thane.

Billabong High International School,Thane (BHIS,Thane) was started in 2006 by the Goenkas under the aegis of the Citizens Welfare Association (CWA). The aim was to usher into the fast-growing city of Thane world class education. Towards this end, the CWA tied up with Kangaroo Kids Education Limited(KKEL) for pre-primary,primary and secondary education. For the ninth and tenth standards the syllabus is as prescribed by the Council for the Indian School Examinations(CISCE).

The school is a franchisee school of KKEL, which provides the study material. The pre-school section is known as Kangaroo Kids while the main school is called Billabong High International School. BHIS, Thane is managed by Mr Sudhir Goenka,a leading philanthropist and entrepreneur with deep commitment to the promotion of quality education.

  • VISION :

The school aims to produce young individuals who will be committed and caring Indians even as they create a place for themselves in the global community.

Our vision is brought to reality by our experienced and dedicated teaching staff.

The faculty knows what it takes to become a successful global citizen besides inculcating strong moral values, discipline and to achieve academic excellence. We have a great learning atmosphere and a personal relationship with the faculty and administration.

We are also in the process of setting up school of education in Tumsar (Dist. Bhandara), with a view of encouraging and educating local communities.

Children in the school will have practical and theoretical agro based knowledge right from the entry level (Grade I onwards). As most of the local community is involved in agro based business, this will help in educating and increase their knowledge of implementing & developing their own family business.

We are entering into the world of new challenges and opportunities, ready to serve the new generations. Let’s come together to make it a success.

  • MISSION :

    • - To create an environment of safety and security for our young charges so that the school is truly a home away from home.
    • - To build bonds with the community as a recognized hub of human goodness.
    • - To ensure that all our students will eventually contribute to the growth and welfare of society by being responsible citizens.
    • - To tap the potential of all its students and bringing about in them a strong sense of personal and academic excellence.
  • KNOWLEDGE CENTRE :

The Kinder Campus of Billabong High International School, Thane, like most pre-schools, houses Children in the age group 1 years to 5 years viz:Play Group, Nursery, Junior K.G. and Senior K.G. The program in this section is mainly through play and activity with as little stress as possible. Real Life situations are simulated and children learn to speak and communicate with each other even as they internalise quality societal norms. Hardly any written work is done at this stage. A spacious and brightly- lit Activity Room and small classrooms not exceeding 26 children along with two teachers makes the pre-school of BHIS,Thane, the right place for the little scholars. There is even a small Computer Room for the Preschoolers.

True Education in real sense is self-realization of the child’s own potentials. The knowledge that is imparted to students is an opportunity for the student to discover his/her own strengths and weaknesses, so that they can choose their own goals with focus on values so as to create a good human being.

In today’s generation, there are lots of challenges and only the competent can succeed and survive. The knowledge is not restricted to any discipline of learning. To meet the constant challenges posed by rapid growth in globalization and economy, a good workforce of ethical and morally strong individuals is required. It is our constant endeavor to focus on developing these key characteristics within our students to evolve them into distinguished human being.

  • MAIN SCHOOL :

The main school has 2 segments: National, which is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and International, which is affiliated to the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) National Segment:

The National segment operates at two levels - ICSE - Grade X Examination and ISC-Grade XII Examination ( Science and Commerce streams)

Grades I-V- are classified as Primary classes and these are handled by Ms.Bhaswati Choudhary, who has been with the school from its inception. The syllabus and study material provided by KKEL are translated into a dynamic curriculum by her team. There are no examinations at all and assessment is done by monitoring the child on a day to day basis, through crosswords, quizzes, projects and other methods. Emphasis is laid on speaking and communication skills. Stress is also laid on experiential learning. Regular field trips and plenty of co-curricular activities both physical and mental form part of the Primary school curriculum. An annual 2 or 3 day educational tour to nearby places form the high point of the primary school students experience. Work sheets that are age -appropriate and skill- centred help in evaluating the pupils without the accompanying stress.

Grades VI-X form the Secondary section of the school and culminates in the ICSE Examination at the end of Grade X. This section is under the expert hands of Yojana Suryarao who , like her Pre-primary and Primary counterparts, has been with BHIS from the very beginning. Day to day management and supervision are her special skills.
